Gisterenavond
vertelde gastheer Tom Egberts in Studio Voetbal een geïsoleerd
verhaal over de populariteit van vrouwenvoetbal vlak na die oorlog.
Vrouwen die na afloop weer snel de hoofdvelden moesten verlaten
(zoals ook vele andere delen van de maatschappij die weer mannenbolwerken moesten worden).
Voetbal en
de Eerste Wereldoorlog het brengt ook de verbroedering tussen de twee
kanten aan de vooravond van Kerst 1914 boven. Er wordt verhaald over
een partij tussen de loopgraven. Daarna werd dergelijke verbroedering
verboden. Het bleef voorkomen, maar wie betrapt werd op vriendschap
over de scheidslijnen heen werd in dienst van het Vaderland
gefusilleerd.
